Jane Bielby Johnson

On the 23rd November 1832, my great great grandmother, Jane Bielby Johnson was born at Fridaythorpe, East Yorkshire. She was the second child of John and Jane Johnson née Stilborn.

This rather imposing gentleman is John Johnson, Jane Bielby Johnson's father.
He farmed over 250 acres at Fridaythorpe, employing four labourers and one boy.

Jane married John Little from Swinefleet, 16th July 1851 at Fridaythorpe. Jane had five children, the last child is born three months after her husbands death.
This is the account of John Little's death taken from the Hull Advertiser. They made a mistake at the end of the article, it should have said "he left a wife and four children".

Jane married Robert Pickering of Little Weeton 6th October 1869. Jane was aged thirty-seven, Robert sixty-two.

The 1871 census finds them living at Little Weeton, John is a farmer of 220 acres, They had two children, Robert Pickering born 24th May 1870, and Herbert Johnson Pickering born 30th August 1872. Herbert only lived for three weeks and five days.

Jane's husband, Robert Pickering died 31st Oct 1873.
Jane with her son Robert                 Her son Robert in 1915                     Jane aged thirty
A newspaper article mentions Mrs Pickering of Aspen House, Driffield at the time of her daughter, Mary Ann Jane Little getting married 26th September 1874.
Jane's third and last marriage takes place 18th December 1877 when she marries John Lever Robson at Driffield.
The 1881 census has Jane now aged forty-eight living at Driffield with her spouse John L Robson and her son Robert Pickering aged ten.
From now on I am somewhat confused, there is no more mention of her husband John Lever Robson until his death in 1912!
The 1891 census shows Jane Pickering aged sixty-eight as Head at 91 Linnaeus Street, Myton, Hull. Also at the address is her grandson, Martin C Ward aged fifteen.
The 1901 census shows Jane Pickering now sixty-eight and a widow as Head at 26 Mercer Road, Louth. Martin C Ward, her grandson is there aged twenty.
April 13th 1907, Jane wrote a letter to her cousin. Jane was still at 26 Mercer Road.
1911 census shows Jane living on her own, still at 26 Mercer Road aged 79.
3rd April 1912, her husband John Lever Robson dies aged eighty-three. The address on his death certificate is 37 Marshal Avenue, Bridlington.
Jane died 1st December 1922 aged ninety. Her death certificate reads - Jane Bielby Robson, widow of John Robson retired farmer. Her address is 53 Marshal Avenue, Bridlington. Just a few doors away from where her husband lived prior to his death ten years before!
I would dearly love to know what happened between Jane and her third husband, John Lever Robson?
The following is Jane's Will-

Super to have so many photos of these venerable ancestors. John Little looks a bit weedy in his picture, but John Johnson is a fine figure of a man with his top hat! Jane's dresses are wonderful. I can't imagine having to wear enormous skirts like that all day.
